Face moulding

A small series of pictures showing the process and outcome of making a face mould, using slow set alginate and plaster strips.

Creepy, huh?

A bit of a re-vamp...

Okay. So I'm sort of organising my life at the moment trying to get focused on my work and all that, so I've decided to keep this blog as my art/creative outlet rather than random fashion(ish) posts every few months or so. I've got plenty of work to be doing over the summer so I'm hoping to keep this updated as I go!

Anywho, here's the progress on my painting. I'm pretty much almost finished, there's alot of detailing on bits I still want to do but I got the majority of it finished a few weeks ago. I can't work out how long it's actually taken me as I just like to come back to it when I feel like it!

Sorry for the terrible quality, getting a decent photo was really hard! Like I said there's still bits all over to fine-tune and perfect, but I'm pleased ultimately with how it's turning out. I might end up using this painting as a starter to a hyper-realism project, but I think I'm going to explore the human face and expression in a more distorted and contemporary/abstract way. Hopeeeefully I'll end up with some interesting stuff. PEACE OUT.

back again...

Just a quick post to show some progression on my art project for the summer. Basically we were'nt really given a breif, only told that we needed to produce four pieces of work for the start of the october, which would develop into our work for the second year. Without having my feedback back from the first year's worth of work, I didn't currently have any sparks of inspiration to motivate me to really get going on some art. So I decided to keep it simple for the first 'piece' to get me into the swing of things! I've used my sister as the subject here, and literally took a simple portrait picture of her the other night. The picture I chose to paint I actually found quite interesting, there was something in the expression that didn't even show in real life (why do cameras lie?!) which I thought could make a pretty interesting portrait painting. I started this today, on an 18" x 24" canvas using acrylic paints. This is the progress I've made so far, obviously there's quite a bit still to do but I thought I would document how it's going along the way. (Also I ran out of white so I couldn't do any more :( ).

Oh and this is the photograph I'm using as a reference.

I will actually try to post more over the summer, I know I say this in like every post but I always never get round to it!

Just a quick one

Sorry for lack of posts and general abandonment, I'm pretty bogged down with Uni right now, but only until next week! I just had to show everyone my new purchace, which I really shouldn't have bought but just couldn't resist. It's not even winter! These boots are from Office in the sale, reduced to £40 from £138 - reason 1 to buy. Also the last remaining pairs were only in size 3, which is my size too - reason 2. I took these reasons as a sign, a calling for me to buy these boots. I'm in love.

Sorry for the dire picture quality, I can't get the picture bigger without blurring it more. The URL is here if anyone wants a closer look.

Once I'm done with Uni I'm going to give my blog a makeover, cause lets face it, it sucks. Haha, I will also actually post, so it's less of a rare occasion when I do!

Take a look!

Hey guys, just a quick one to ask you all to take a few moments to check out my sister's blog at http://kirsty-marie.blogspot.com/ :)

She does freelance illustration and has some really good stuff on there, so if you have some spare time in your day have a look around on there, she's just updated it all and is hoping to get some interest knocking about!

Cheers one and all :)
